 Epidemiology & Covid-19

Currently, in Asia, over 90% of Covid-19 infected patients use Traditional Chinese Medicine, alongside, or in place of, cutting-edge Western therapies. it has been so throughout the pandemic. But, Covid-19 is a perfect example of the difference in thinking, systems thinking versus symptom treating.

Chinese medicine recognizes at least seven distinct stages in the treatment of Covid-19 -- before hospitalization. Prevention is the first, but at each stage, from beginning infection, to its unique manifestations within any particular individual (not just comorbidities, but more), to the targeted organs affected, the heart, the kidneys, the micro clotting, the rest of it - infinite possibilities based on infinite human configurations -- and the interaction with an ever evolving microbe. You need to dance in real time.

As we are discovering, the do nothing, and wait-and-see approach, has not proved beneficial --  particularly for those suffering  from what we now call "Long Covid".  Unfortunately, it is quite real and is affecting a staggering amount of the population. Long-term lung fibrosis, kidney damage, Cardiomyopathy, Vascular problems, Recurring headaches, Brain Fog, and a host of other tangible, yet disparate, symptoms.

The current general hypothesis seems to have a lot to do with blood chemistry and the micro-clotting as a  byproduct of the Covid-19 infection. We are now finding micro-clots in most major organs of those who suffered Long Covid, passed on, and were then autopsied.

In Chinese medicine, treating these things after they have become manifest is like "Waiting until you are thirsty to begin digging a well,"  way, way too late. Dealing with  each stage before it becomes a serious problem, at its earliest manifestation,  that is the key to managing this disease.  Preemptive thinking applies to every aspect of this fast-moving, constantly evolving virus.  A primary principle is to get ahead of it before it can do substantial damage, that may be irreversible. Protect the vulnerable areas;  the lungs, the heart, the kidneys, the brain, the vascular system, the epithelial tissue...  Rest, hydrate, use common sense, and please, please, please keep this virus to your self -- do not allow the infection to pass on to others.

Good luck to us all, we're going to need it.  Remember, were all in this together --  and together we can get through this.

God bless everybody, and protect us all.
